What’s Value?
A good friend of mine just bought a new scope for his Winchester 30-06 rifle. He was so exuberant when announcing that he got a real value – an $800 scope for $600. I thought long and hard about our friendship but couldn’t help myself. I responded by saying that price alone does not determine value, but rather getting the most out of the product for the price you’ve paid does.
If you can purchase non-named brand rifle scopes, with similar features for $250, did you get real value? Dollar for dollar, is the more expensive scope 2 or 3 times better than the cheaper one? Do you really need the best? Wouldn’t the lower priced scope have served your needs just as-well? – now that would have been real “Value”!
Laser Rangefinders!

Laser Rangefinder!
I always thought that I was fairly good at determining distances. I figured that one of my steps was equivalent to a yard, and I faithfully confirmed my Zero each year. But, with the purchase of my first laser range-finder, I found out that my estimates were consistently off 15-20 yards per 100.
Exact knowledge of range is critical for the bow hunter, air gun enthusiast, muzzle-loader, and super critical for anyone that shoots near the maximum point-blank range. I know my .270 Winchester 140 grain cartridge should be sighted-in 2.5 inches high at 100 yards for a maximum point-blank range (six inch kill zone) at 295 yards. However, where does that hunting sphere end? Laser range-finders will help take the guesswork out of that process.
